Kayak Trails
Beginning at the Tamakai Reserve in the historic town of Waiuku on the Manukau Harbour, this short Kayak Trail (35km, plus side trips) can be accomplished, one way, in two days by a casual paddler. A tide dependent but mainly sheltered waters paddle with easy access all of the trip to numerous safe landings, most of which have Council sponsored and maintained toilets.
WEKA – Waiuku Estuary Kayak Adventure Beginning in the tidal estuary of historic Waiuku, at the same place as the Southern Kayak Trail, kayak to the Waitangi Falls (2.5km), have a picnic lunch, jump off the falls with the local kids, then leisurely kayak back via the Waiuku Sandspit beach.

The Slippery Creek Kayak Hire Company is a company established to promote the upper Manukau Harbour as an activity destination.
We offer an varied and interesting journey, which winds through wetland and estuarine waters and includes some swift water.
The Manukau, from Onehunga across to Franklin was once a massive waka highway. Putter from any of the beaches, but a sweet secret is a guided kayak tour between Slippery Creek in Drury and Hingaia Bridge west of Papakura
The trip is around six km and should take around 1 – 1.5 hours. We have 12 kayaks and can cater for up to 17 paddlers. This journey takes you through waters that are inaccessible by car, and you will forget that you are only a short distance from Auckland.
