JIM JACKSON AWARD

Celebrating Harbour Champions Award 31 May 2025

Today members of MHRS attended the Manukau Harbour Symposium put on by the Manukau Harbour Forum. Some great speakers showed how they are affecting changes for the good of the harbour and surrounds. Jim Jackson was present and received an award for all the great mahi done by the MHRS, which Jim founded and led. The biggest project influenced through direct action of Jim and the MHRS was getting the promises made in the 70s honoured, to restore the Onehunga foreshore after State Highway 20 was constructed. This resulted in the multi-award winning Taumanu Reserve. The award was well deserved and a great recognition of Jim and the work undertaken by Jim, leading the MHRS since inception in 2007. Well done Jim. Thanks go to the Manukau Harbour Forum for organising the event and recognising the often unsung hero’s that work to improve the outcomes for the harbour.
